The SOLAIRE Diamond Sourcing Process

Thank you for considering SOLAIRE for your custom engagement ring. Every diamond we source is selected with intention, and our goal is to help you discover a stone that feels truly special & uniquely yours. The following outlines what you can expect throughout the sourcing process.

Every Diamond Is One of a Kind

Natural diamonds (particularly antique or champagne diamonds) are inherently unique. No two stones are exactly alike, and every diamond is a balance of characteristics including shape, proportions, color, faceting, light performance, and overall character.

Because of this, diamond sourcing is a process of discovery rather than searching for a diamond that perfectly matches a predetermined checklist.

Keeping an Open Mind

We'll always source with your preferences in mind, but every natural diamond is incredibly nuanced, carrying a unique combination of characteristics. Rather than expecting every preference to align perfectly in a single stone, our goal is to find the diamond whose overall beauty speaks to you the most.

Throughout the sourcing process, we encourage clients to focus on the overall beauty and character of each diamond rather than eliminating otherwise exceptional stones based on one or two minor details. Every diamond involves tradeoffs, and the goal is to find the stone that feels the most special as a whole.

Diamond Availability

We source through a trusted network of diamond suppliers around the world. These are existing diamonds currently available on the market, not stones that can be custom manufactured or modified.

Availability changes daily, and once a diamond is sold, there is no guarantee another comparable option will become available. Every search is guided by both your preferences and what truly exists on the market at that time.

When We Begin Sourcing

We begin actively sourcing once you’re ready to move forward with your purchase.

Most diamonds shown during the sourcing process are borrowed from our supplier network specifically for your review. These stones cannot be be held indefinitely and are typically available for approximately one week before needing to be returned or released.

If you’re planning to view diamonds in person, we recommend beginning the sourcing process approximately two weeks before your visit. Starting too early increases the likelihood that the diamonds we source will no longer be available by the time you arrive.

Similarly, virtual clients should be prepared to review stones in person promptly once exceptional options become available.

Exceptional Diamonds Move Quickly

Rare diamonds often sell quickly.

When we find a diamond that aligns with your vision, we recommend making a decision once you’re comfortable. Waiting too long may mean losing the opportunity, with no guarantee that a similar stone will become available again.

A Curated Selection

Rather than presenting every available diamond on the market, we carefully curate a thoughtful selection of stones that we genuinely believe are worth your consideration.

Our role is not simply to search for any diamond — it’s to evaluate, compare, and narrow hundreds of possibilities into a handful of exceptional options that best align with your vision.

A Final Note

Finding the right diamond is a collaborative process built on trust, communication, and an open mind. Our goal isn’t to find a diamond that’s perfect in every individual characteristic, but one whose overall beauty, personality, and presence feel unmistakably yours.
